ACOUSTIC COVERINGS

CLIPSO believes that good acoustic design and good visual design should go hand in hand, as both provide a source of comfort and well-being. The acoustic performance of a space can be greatly enhanced by using the right acoustic materials in your design.

CLIPSO® ceiling and wall coverings provide high-end visual and acoustic solutions for any interior space. CLIPSO 495 D and 705 A Acoustic coverings are highly micro-perforated which allows for a high level of acoustic performance. When combined with an acoustical batting, NRC’s (Noise Reduction Coefficients) can reach 1.05. Like all CLIPSO coverings, the polyurethane coating on the micro-perforated polyester knit is very durable and washable.

The Acoustic 495 D covering can be coated with stock or custom colours, or printed with high-resolution digital, stock, or custom images. Ceiling tiles, or cloud-like effects, can be created to enhance both design and acoustic properties. CLIPSO Acoustic wide-span coverings come in various widths with rolls ranging from 6’6” to 16’8” wide by 164′ long. CLIPSO Acoustic 495 D coverings are available in three standard colours: White, Beige and Black. In addition, there is an Acoustic Colour 495 AC palette of 20 subtle earth tones, as well as an Acoustic Translucent 495 AT covering available in Translucent White.

ACOUSTIC BATTING

CLIPSO Acoustical Batting is a synthetic, polyester material that is both non-fibrous and lightweight. It provides a high noise absorption rate, a high resistance to moisture and is easy to install, as it contains no potentially-harmful fibreglass. When used with CLIPSO 495D Acoustic Fabric, you get a much higher rate of sound absorption because any of the sound that transmitted through the fabric is now met with the acoustic batting installed behind the fabric (as displayed below).

LA 53

LA 53 acoustical batting is a white, synthetic material that is 0.375 inches thick. When used in a double layer, it equals 1” of fibreglass.

CLIPSO Acoustic 495 D fabric over one layer of LA 53 gives a Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) of 0.60 and a Sound Absorption Average (SAA) of 0.63.

CLIPSO Acoustic 495 D fabric over two layers of LA 53 gives a Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) of 0.85 and a Sound Absorption Average (SAA) of 0.83.

LA 54

LA 54 acoustical batting is a white, synthetic material that is 1.75 inches thick.

CLIPSO Acoustic 495 D fabric over 1 one layer of LA 54 with a 2.25″ plenum gives a Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) of 1.05 and a Sound Absorption Average (SAA) of 1.05.

With acoustic batting you get a much higher rate of absorption because any sound transmitted through the fabric is will be met with acoustic batting installed. Acoustic batting provides a high noise absorption rate, is made from lightweight synthetic polyester, is easy to install, and is highly resistant to moisture.
